2001 Dates are a bit hazy here but we managed one trip around Epsom_Downs before they were closed due to Foot & Mouth.
Keith
arrived on the scene and we went out on the road for 3 weeks. We encountered cold
stinging February rain but at least I had on my new Altura
waterproof, breathable windproof jacket. One of the most effective purchases I
have made so far.
On
one occasion, we were out for a road run and cut across some rough ground. Suddenly
Keith went arse over tit as he took a sharp right
turn. He had forgotten he was on his road bike with slicks instead of on his knobblies.
I
was on the Apollo, which was okay on the road, and I had also bought some Dia_Compe
v-brakes from Halfords. They took me a few weeks before I had them working properly
but they are a great improvement over the canti’s.
